What’s a Fizzledink?

As far as I know, it’s a totally made-up word that doesn’t really mean anything. Which means that I get to decide what it means. Which means that from here on out, a “fizzledink” is a project you get really, really, really excited about… and then may or may not actually complete satisfactorily.

Hi, I’m Fizz.

My name is actually Michelle, but since I’m trying to be somewhat anonymous and safe at this blog, I go by my little pseudonym there.

Right now, I live near Cincinnati. I grew up in a military family, so I don’t really claim a hometown or even a home state. I’ve lived in most of the Southern US at some point so far, and I’ve only lived abroad once (as an infant.)

I went to a small, Southern Baptist college in one of those southern states. My major was early childhood education, and four years after graduating I achieved National Board Certification. To be honest, I’m really super-proud of that fact.

I’m married to a general surgery resident. He’s a great guy, my Gruff; tall, and strong, and complicated. We’ve had more than our share of ups and downs in our years together, but I have an abiding hope that we have what it takes to make a lifetime together.

I’m a mom, too. After several bumps in that road, we finally greeted our sweet baby boy – Smooch – in February of 2006. I’m both blessed and challenged by my new gig as a stay-at-home mom.

One of these days, I want to be a writer. (Yes, technically I write for Fizzledink, but you know what I mean.)  I’m a frustrated crafter (never enough time or money to do everything I dream of doing) and a reluctant exerciser. I’m a Christian who struggles with what her faith is supposed to look like in the course of daily life. I’m a bad dresser and a mediocre housekeeper, but I’m a pretty good cook.

It’s nice to meet you. I hope you stick around!
