Our boy was about Smooch's age during DH's 2-3 year of residency, which were some of his worst with being 80+ hour weeks. But there were occasions where I just COULD NOT do it any more at night. Even though he was exhausted and had all that work ahead of him. Its more a sort of emotional exhaustion. The well simply runs dry. Don't feel bad. You will all get through.
